Tiger Indoor Track Competes at Dordt OpenPublished by
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa The Dakota Wesleyan University men s and women s indoor track and field teams competed Saturday in the Dordt Open, an event hosted by Great Plains Athletic Conference member Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. The event was the second of the season for the Tigers with several GPAC teams in attendance. The top performer for the Tigers was junior Daniel Porter (Plattsmouth, Neb.) with a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 12.78 meters, while senior Ryan Antaya (Plankinton, S.D.) added a fifth place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 13.74 meters. The DWU men also saw a strong performance from freshman Lane Tibbs (Kennesaw, Neb.) in the 3,000-meter run. Tibbs finished sixth with a time of 9 minutes, 16.18 seconds. Freshman Jeremiah Panec (Kennesaw, Neb.) added a 14th place finish in the 3,000-meter run for the Tigers. On the women s side, the Tigers got a pair of ninth-place finishes from junior Skylar Forgey (Colome, S.D.). She finished the 400-meter dash in 1:04.11, while crossing the line in the 800-meter run in 2:25.96. Sophomore Jessica Neises added a ninth-place finish in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:50.60 for the DWU women.
