STORM LAKE, Iowa The Dakota Wesleyan University men s and women s indoor track and field teams competed at the Buena Vista University Invite Saturday in Storm Lake, Iowa, with one Tiger breaking a school record for a second consecutive week.

Junior Skylar Forgey (Colome, S.D.) broke the DWU record in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3 minutes 4.77 seconds, just .77 seconds shy a qualifying for the NAIA National Meet. The performance broke the school record in the event that Forgey set one week earlier, by besting the time of 3:08.18 set by Gail McIntyre in 2009.

The win by Forgey helped the women place sixth out of nine teams with 29 points at the event, while the men placed seventh out of nine teams with 23 points. Northwestern College (Iowa) won the team title for the men and women.

The women got a boost from senior Abby Fossum (Canton, S.D.) with a third-place performance in the triple jump. She finished with a distance of 10.14 meters.

Junior Daniel Porter (Plattsmouth, Neb.) also picked up a first-place finish for the Tigers, winning the men s triple jump with a distance of 13.17 meters.

Freshman Lane Tibbs (Kenesaw, Neb.) took fourth in the one mile run for the men with a time of 4:32.63, while sophomore Isaac Van Essen (Sioux Falls, S.D.) was fourth in the long jump with a leap of 6.53 meters.

The Tigers are in action next at the University of South Dakota Open Saturday in Vermillion, S.D.
